On the television side, Woodland Hills native America Ferrera added a SAG award to her Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on ABC's fish-out-of-water show ``Ugly Betty Ugly Betty is an Emmy-winning[1] American television comedy-drama series starring America Ferrera, Eric Mabius, Rebecca Romijn and Vanessa Williams. The series premiered on September 28, 2006, on ABC in the United States and on Citytv in Canada. .''

The independently produced Sundance darling ``Little Miss Sunshine'' beat out ``Dreamgirls,'' ``The Departed,'' ``Babel'' and ``Bobby,'' and had previously won the Producers Guild Award for Best Film. It's also an Oscar nominee for Best Picture.

``Little Miss Sunshine'' was the rare winner that didn't follow the cue of the Golden Globes two weeks ago. All four film actors winning Sunday night had previously won Globes, solidifying their positions as Oscar front-runners.

The Helen Mirren Awards Express proceeded apace Sunday when the actress won her third and fourth SAG Awards in the film category's Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for ``The Queen'' and the television movie or miniseries acting award for HBO's ``Elizabeth I Elizabeth I, queen of England

Fayed's bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones was the only car occupant to survive the accident. , Mirren recalled with a laugh, ``When I did my costume fitting for `The Queen,' I saw those sensible shoes and those tweed skirts and I thought, I can't play anyone who would choose those clothes; I just can't.''

Jeremy Irons also won a trophy for ``Elizabeth I,'' Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries.

Backstage, the two offered deference to American film acting. In fact, the perfection of the medium lies somewhere in between, the two ``Elizabeth I'' winners said.

``American actors are wonderful at film work and I think we have a tremendous theatrical tradition,'' said Irons, an Oscar winner for ``Reversal of Fortune.'' Mirren also drolly noted her versatility: ``The last time I was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award, it was for playing the housekeeper in `Gosford Park.' So I play downstairs as well as upstairs.''

Forest Whitaker likewise continued his awards juggernaut, being named best Male Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in ``The Last King of Scotland.''

``Dreamgirls'' won supporting male and female actor trophies for Globe winners Jennifer Hudson Jennifer Kate Hudson (born September 12, 1981) is an Academy Award-winning American actress and singer. Murphy, winning for his role as a charismatic pop star in ``Dreamgirls,'' began his acceptance speech in a faux-British accent -- ``I've been acting for 25 years now'' -- then shrugged off the mock-pretension with the acknowledgment, ``I feel goofy up here.''

Backstage, Murphy expressed no disappointment that ``Dreamgirls'' was snubbed in Oscar's Best Picture category. ``I was so happy to be nominated; to be honest, I wasn't unhappy about anything,'' Muprhy said. ``I've just been nonstop happy.''

In her acceptance speech, ``Ugly Betty's'' Ferrera said, ``Looking out over the room, I see faces that have inspired me and moved me my entire life ... We share a common knowledge of struggle and rejection and now of success.''
