KIDS' STUFF; SIMI FESTIVAL ENDS SUMMER ON HIGH NOTE.

Byline: Don Holland Staff Writer

There were almost too many options for 6-year-old Josh Pittle.

Josh and more than 4,000 others flocked to Rancho Santa Susana Santa Susana can refer to several places:

There were food booths and face painting, a petting zoo and a bounce house or two, not to mention live music, stage shows, pony rides, jugglers and clowns. Free Beanie Babies Sources:

Less than half way into the daylong festival, the turnout had already surpassed the expectations of Simi Sunrise Rotary Club President Craig Foster, one of 50 Rotarians who volunteered for the event.

``We were hoping for 4,000 total, so it's a nice surprise to have 4,000 by 1 p.m.,'' Foster said. ``Hopefully, there is enough interest from the community to make this an annual event now.''

The Rotary Club, which puts on the annual Cajun Festival, decided earlier this year to put on a special event aimed especially at children.

``We're doing this strictly as a community service,'' Foster said. ``There are a lot of organizations that fulfill kid-related needs. But this was intended to be something fun.''

Proceeds from the event will support local and international charitable efforts.
