Giving thanks

The young characters from ``Recess,'' ``Disney's Doug'' and ``Pepper Ann'' celebrate Thanksgiving in different ways - from holding a can drive to observing the holiday minus a family member - in this week's ``Disney's One Saturday Morning'' lineup of shows.

These Thanksgiving-themed programs will be shown between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. Saturday on KABC KABC Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children  (Channel 7).

Zoo view

Learn about breeding, rehabilitation and the status of the condor population when you take the behind-the-scenes tour of the California condors at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Los Angeles Zoo The Los Angeles Zoo founded in 1966, is a large zoo located in Los Angeles, California, USA.

The Zoo, located in Los Angeles' Griffith Park, is home to 1,200 animals from around the world.

Children age 5 and older are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult. Reservations should be made through the Natural History Museum. Cost is $20 for museum members, $25 for nonmembers. Information: (213) 763-3466. The Los Angeles Zoo is located at 5333 Zoo Drive.

A happy anniversary

Come celebrate the Autry Museum's 10th anniversary and make a decorative craft from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. You can also listen to the Wild Horse Singers at 1 p.m. in Heritage Court the same day. The anniversary celebration continues at 1 p.m. Sunday with Wolden Dahl in the Heritage Court.

Train time

Thomas the Tank Engine is a fictional anthropomorphic tank locomotive created by the Rev. W. V.
 appears at the opening of the Northridge Toys 'R' Us store from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Visitors will be treated to two versions of the popular character: a 96-foot Thomas-shaped balloon, with a driver in its cab, and the Thomas road model.

Holiday books

Children's author Jane Breskin Zalben visits Pages Books in Tarzana at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Meet the writer and illustrator who will read and talk about her latest books - ``Beni's Family Treasury,'' which is a compilation of the five Beni holiday stories, and ``Pearl's Eight Days of Chanukah,'' which is the third in a series about a lamb child and her family observances of the holidays.

Zalben's books afford young readers age 4 and older a celebration of Jewish family life and holidays in a written form appropriate for them.

Winnie-the-Pooh is happy and excited for it is his favorite day of the year - Thanksgiving - the day he can spend with best friends Christopher Robin, Piglet, Tigger, Owl, Eeyore and Rabbit in the Hundred Acre Wood The Hundred Acre Wood (also spelled as '"100 Aker Wood," Hundred-Acre Wood, and 100 Acre Wood; also known as simply The Wood') is the fictional land inhabited by Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends in the Winnie-the-Pooh series of children's stories by author A.A.  eating a wonderful dinner.
