 is sponsoring a series of archeology workshops for kids at its site atop the Sepulveda Pass Sepulveda Pass (el. 1130 ft. / 334 m.) is a mountain pass through the Santa Monica Mountains in Los Angeles, California. It is often called Poop-Out Pass, a phrase once used by now-deceased traffic reporter Bill Keene.  in Bel-Air.

Kids will participate in a simulated archeological dig to learn about the science of archeology and discover various ``mysteries'' under the sand. The 90-minute program is geared for children 8 and up, who must be accompanied by an adult.

Participants should wear closed-toe shoes, clothes appropriate for digging, and a hat, and should bring water. The first group is scheduled to meet in the lobby of the center at 1:45 p.m. Saturday. The center is at 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd.

Other sessions will be Oct. 25, Nov. 8 and Dec. 13. Space is limited to 30 children each outing. Call (310) 440-4636 to register. (The workshop will be canceled if it rains. The fee is $4 per child.

Variant of handsel.
 & Gretel'' now through Nov. 15. All performances are at 11 a.m. on Saturdays. Tickets are $9 for adults and $7 for children. The theater is at 324 N. Orange St., Glendale. Call (818) 244-8481 for information and reservation.
