KIDS/SNEAK PEEK : KEEPING TOYS SAFE FOR TODAY'S KIDS.

Byline: - Nancy Hewitt

Kids don't need violence in their lives, especially in the toys they play with. That's why the Lion and the Lamb, a national, grass-roots group that is providing information about the effects of violent entertainment, toys and games on children's behavior, has joined forces with ZanyBrainy stores to encourage children to trade in their violent toys for non-violent and educational toys What is an educational toy?
''' Toys, and educational toys, are typically built for and used by children. One could make the argument that an educational toy is actually any toy. Most children are constantly interacting with and learning about the world.
.

To learn more about the Trade-a-toy program, which ends Dec. 24., log onto the stores' Web site: www.zanybrainy.com. Parents logging onto the Web site will be asked to complete a survey - with their child - and will receive a coupon for 20 percent off future purchases at a ZanyBrainy store.

Should you prefer to use the mail system, log on to www.submitorder.com where you will be given instructions on how to send a violent toy in and get a replacement non-violent toy for your child.

Then, start off the holiday season by visiting your nearest ZanyBrainy store at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and viewing the new video release of ``Winnie the Pooh: Seasons of Giving.''
