KIDS/SNEAK PEEK : DISCOVER WHAT YOU'VE GOT AT FOSSIL MUSEUM.

Bring your archeological discoveries - bones, shells, rocks and fossils - to Discovery Day at the Page Museum.

This Saturday is specially set aside for visitors to bring in their treasures to be identified by museum personnel from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Visit the George C. Page George C. Page was a farmer boy from Fremont, Nebraska who left for California at the age of sixteen because of an orange. He had only $2.30. For the little mates

If you're curious about life in the Australian outback and have always wanted to visit the land Down Under, it's nearer than you think.

Boomerock Restaurant in Pasadena wants to share more than its famous Aboriginal hot-rock cooking and true Australian decor. Each Sunday, families are encouraged to visit for dinner and enjoy magic, animal shows and storytelling.

At 5 and 7 p.m. this Sunday, visit the restaurant for an evening full of fun, food and free entertainment and meet O.B., an orphaned baby kangaroo kangaroo, name for a variety of hopping marsupials, or pouched mammals, of the family Macropodidae, found in Australia, Tasmania, and New Guinea. The term is applied especially to the large kangaroos of the genus Macropus. .

Joining O.B. are colorful macaws, delicate doves and a 3-year-old chimp named Beijing.

And parents will love this: Kids under age 12 eat free Sunday evenings.

Fame of her own

When Ruby Bridges Ruby Bridges Hall (born Ruby Nell Bridges September 8, 1954 in Tylertown, Mississippi) moved with her parents to New Orleans, Louisiana at the age of four. In 1960, when she was 6 years old, her parents responded to a call from the NAACP and volunteered her to participate in  was 6 years old, all she wanted to do was attend school. But the school in her neighborhood was all-white, and she was African-American.

This courageous youngster created her own niche in American history and helped prompt the beginning of desegregation desegregation: see integration.  in New Orlean's public schools when she crossed the threshold of William Frantz Elementary School elementary school: see school.  Nov. 4, 1960.

After hearing a reading of Robert Coles' ``The Story of Ruby Bridges,'' a picture book about her life, meet the real heroine of this story at 4 p.m. today at Children's Book World, 10580-1/2 Pico Blvd., Los Angeles. Information: (310) 559-2665.

Goin' buggy

Celebrate your love for bugs at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at ZanyBrainy stores.

Be sure to enjoy the buggy fun at local stores, and you can also purchase a copy of the film ``A Bug's Life.''

And if you're a fingerboard freak, come and check out the accessories and learn the skills to perform tricks. Fingerboard events are held at noon Sunday in Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  and at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Pasadena.

Dig this

While the Russian dinosaur exhibit is still at the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum, kids of all ages are invited to check out the Dino Touch Cart, where they can touch dinosaur teeth, claws and bones. They can even make a fossil cast and amber to take home as a souvenir.

The cart is outside the exhibit and is included with admission to the museum, 900 Exposition Blvd., Los Angeles. Admission $8 adults; $5.50 students and seniors; $2 children ages 5 to 12; children under age 5 free. Information: (213) 763-3466.
