KEYED-UP THIEF STEALS $400 FROM PARKING METERS.

Byline: - Nicholas Grudin

More than $400 in change was stolen from scores of parking meters at a city lot by someone who used a key or pick to open them, authorities said Wednesday.

About 85 meters in the municipal lot at Verdugo Park were broken into within the last week, but there was no sign of forced entry, authorities said.

The theft was discovered Tuesday, which is when money from the meters is generally collected.
