KEYCORP ELECTS FORMER MAINE GOVERNOR, KENNETH M. CURTIS, TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 ALBANY, N.Y., May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Victor J. Riley, Jr., chairman, president and chief executive officer of KeyCorp (NYSE: KEY), has announced the election of Kenneth M. Curtis to the KeyCorp board of directors. Curtis, 62, was elected at the board's meeting in Tacoma, Wash., on April 22. Robert E. Bryans was retired from the board at that same meeting. The KeyCorp board is comprised of 18 directors.
 Curtis is president of the Maine Maritime Academy, a position he has held since 1986. He is also a partner in the law firm of Curtis, Thaxter, Stevens, Broder & Micoleau in Portland, Maine.
 Active in state and federal government, Curtis is a former governor of the State of Maine where he had previously served as secretary of state. He was also the United States ambassador to Canada from 1979 to 1981.
 He was awarded a bachelor of science degree from the Maine Maritime Academy and received his law degree from the University of Maine's Portland University of Law School. Curtis has been the recipient of many honorary degrees including those from the Universities of Maine, New Hampshire and New Brunswick in Canada.
 A member of the Maine Bar Association, Curtis is also a member of the Council of Former American Ambassadors and serves on the Board o Trustees of the Susan L. Curtis Foundation in Portland, Maine, and the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, West Boothbay Harbor, Maine. He is a board member of both New England Telephone and Bowater, Incorporated and serves on the advisory board of Alberta Northeast Gas, Ltd.
 He resides in Castine, Maine, with his wife, Pauline.
