KEY MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENTS MADE AT VSI FASTENERS; COMPANY GEARS UP FOR MAJOR STRATEGIC PLAYS IN DIY HARDWARE

STANTON, Calif., April 20 /PRNewswire/ - On board himself less than two months as chief executive officer of VSI Fasteners, Clark Higgins announces several personnel changes and additions as part of an overall plan to, in his words, " ... create a sales organization designed to deal most effectively with the future needs of the home center, hardware chain and mass market power retailers.
"This is a move to respond in a proactive way to our customers' needs in this fast-paced environment of DIY retailing," added Higgins.
Higgins appoints Bob Eddy, formerly director of National Accounts for VSI, to the position of vice president of Marketing. Eddy has more than 12 years of sales and marketing management experience in the DIY and construction supply markets, 10 of those with Black & Decker. He will be responsible for all VSI marketing and merchandising programs, including product development and advertising.
Three new sales directors have been named: Douglas Copley, Larry Swingholm and Lindsay Carter.
Copley has more than eight years experience in the DIY and construction supply markets, also with Black & Decker. He will be responsible for major accounts in the Eastern United States.
Swingholm has spent 20 years in the fastener business, 15 of those at VSI. Prior to VSI he worked for Cleveland Cap Screw and for Lampson & Sessions. Swingholm will be responsible for major accounts in the Central United States.
Carter hails from sales and key account management positions with Black & Decker's Los Angeles offices and with Medi-Tech Inc. in Los Angeles. Carter will handle major accounts in the Western United States.
"We've invested in these successful, high-energy individuals because we see a lot of opportunity to increase our customers' return on investment. We'll need the expertise and support of these people to deliver," says Higgins, "and to help our customers anticipate future market requirements."
