KERR-McGEE'S PIGMENT PLANT RECOMMENDED FOR ISO 9002 CERTIFICATION

OKLAHOMA CITY, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Kerr-McGee Chemical Corp.'s Hamilton, Miss., pigment plant has been recommended for certification under the International Organization for Standardization's quality standard. The Hamilton facility received the highest ISO 9002 audit score ever awarded by Det Norske Veritas Industry Inc., a Norwegian third-party auditor.
George R. Hennigan, Kerr-McGee Chemical president, said, "ISO 9002 certification is the hallmark of top quality companies. Without it, a company cannot effectively compete in a global marketplace."
The Hamilton pigment plant produces titanium dioxide for use in paint, plastics and paper. "Our goal is to have all our chemical plants certified," said Mel Penn, Kerr-McGee Chemical's director of quality management. "This is a milestone toward achieving that goal and represents two years of hard work by Hamilton employees."
Hamilton's electrolytic plant was recommended for ISO certification in October.
