KENNER UNVEILS ITS HOT TOYS FOR 1993; TOY COMPANY'S PRODUCTS ARE FUN, ACTION-PACKED, IMAGINATIVE AND EDUCATIONAL

 NEW YORK, Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Coming off a very successful year that saw tremendous product sales increases in both its girls and boys lines, Kenner Products moves into 1993 with a full array of new and traditional toys certain to pique the interest of children -- and adults.
 To walk through the Kenner showroom this week at the 90th annual American International Toy Fair is to see first-hand the hot trends in toys for 1993 -- including sizzling entertainment-licensed properties like Aliens, Batman and Jurassic Park; exciting new line extensions for Nerf and Littlest Pet Shop; brand new special-feature dolls like Baby Check Up and Baby Needs Me; activities toys such as EZ 2 Do; and venerable classics such as Nerf, Spirograph and Easy Bake. Not only does Kenner have some of the most sought after products of 1993, it also has some of the most affordable. Sensitive to the challenges parents are facing in today's economic climate, Kenner has attractively priced its toy lines so that four out of five of the company's products are available for under $15.
 "Retail trends over the last several years have shown that consumers prefer toys in two categories: updated classic brands, and exciting, heavily promoted new introductions. In either category, consumers demand value and quality," said Bruce Stein, president of Kenner Products. "It is this mix of the respected traditional toys and cutting edge new product introductions that gives Kenner its competitive edge. This year's product line includes an extensive and diversified roster of boys and girls toys that stress imagination, creativity, adventure and innovation. We feel that this year's offerings will be among our best, but as always the consumer is the final judge."
 Here, then, is a review of Kenner Products' lineup of toys for 1993:
 BOYS TOYS
 "Based on the success of our Batman, Terminator, Claw and Nerf products in 1992, Kenner will introduce broad extensions to those strong product lines in '93," said Tom McGrath, Kenner's vice president of marketing for boys toys. "In addition, the great early reaction we've received to our new lines -- Jurassic Park, Aliens and Bad Beast -- demonstrates why we continue to be a toy industry leader in the action figure and accessories segment."
 Jurassic Park(TM):
 This June, Steven Spielberg will use his magic to bring realistic- looking dinosaurs to the big screen in "Jurassic Park," and Kenner is whipping up a little magic of its own with its new Jurassic Park toy line. Offering incredible sculpted detail and completely new ways to play with dinosaurs, Kenner's Jurassic Park toy line is so exciting and innovative that it will make all other toy dinosaurs...extinct.
 Nerf(R):
 For 1993, the all new Hyrdo Nerf line -- which includes Hydro Bazooka, Hydro Ball and Hydro Torpedoes -- drenches the competition with wet and wild water play items destined to be a soaking success. New action toys like the Nerf Sharp Shooter, and "turbo" items such as the Nerf Turbo Torch Football, also guarantee that Nerf will continue to be one of the most exciting product lines on the market. Finally, megahit Nerf items like the Nerf Bow 'N' Arrow and the Nerf Master Blaster return this year, demonstrating once again that in '93, it's "Nerf or Nothin'."
 Aliens(TM) Action Figures and Accessories:
 Kenner, long the toy industry leader in boys action figures, introduces a new line of Aliens toys which captures all of the energy and excitement of one of today's most popular villains. The intricate styling of the Aliens and powerful Space Marine figures provides great space fantasy battle play, as kids can create action scenarios in which the Space Marines triumph over the Aliens in the perpetual battle of good vs. evil. These figures, combined with the adventurous play patterns offered by the Aliens Vehicle assortments, ensure that Aliens will be one of the "must-have" boys toys of '93. In fact, initial reports from retail indicate that Kenner's Aliens toys are red hot.
 Batman(R) Action Figures and Accessories:
 For 1993, there will be a brand new collection of Batman action figures and accessories based on Fox Television's blockbuster hit "Batman: The Animated Series." The new Batman toy line has a dramatic art deco, high-tech styling that reflects the superior production quality of the animated series. From great new versions of Batman and Robin, to new villain figures like Two Face Riddler, Man-Bat and Joker, to vehicles like the Batcycle and the all-new Batmobile, kids will have hours of adventurous play creating their own Caped Crusader adventures.
 Starting Lineup(R):
 Starting Lineup scores another home run in 1993, with the debut of a new collection of Major League Baseball Stadium Stars, an exciting line extension featuring larger six-inch-tall figurines poised above an authentic replica of a player's home stadium. Add to this expanded lines of professional baseball, football and basketball All-Star Assortments, and it's easy to see why 1993 will be another winning season for Starting Lineup.
 Bad Beast(TM):
 New for '93, Kenner's Bad Beast is a rough-and-rugged diesel-type monster truck ready to tackle any terrain. The battery-operated rig moves along peacefully until it encounters an intruder in its path, and then the truck transforms into a hungry, snarling beast, making "mincemeat" of the offending obstacle. Once it clears its prey, Bad Beast transforms back to its original form and continues on its way.
 The Claw(TM):
 As sequels go, this one is a nightmare. The Claw makes a ground- tearing, road-gripping return with The Claw II. The Claw II's powerful climbing feature and new volcanic, molten-lava styling with day-glo orange and cracked blue patches make it the perfect follow-up to 1992's hit.
 Terminator(TM) 2 Future War(TM) Toys:
 Kenner introduces the Terminator 2 Future War Toy line, which transports our hero back into his own time to fight the evil cyborgs of tomorrow. With this all-new line set to make its debut, you can be sure that "I'll Be Back" is a safe bet for Terminator in 1993.
 GIRLS TOYS
 "Solid value, fun, and realistic play patterns form the backbone of Kenner's girl toys offerings for 1993," said Ginger Kent, Kenner's senior vice president of marketing. "The tremendous success we've experienced with special feature dolls over the past few years has led us to introduce new lines of dolls that will both entertain and educate young girls."
 Baby Check Up(TM):
 A new member of Kenner's "family" of special feature dolls, Baby Check Up allows girls to make their baby all better again and again with several magical accessories.
 Baby Needs Me(TM):
 Little girls can now experience all of the fun of playing "mommy" with Kenner's new Baby Needs Me. Whether you are changing diapers, feeding and grooming your "baby", or providing lots of love and affection as indicated on the "Magical Mommy Watch," Baby Needs Me offers youngsters the chance to care for her in a variety of ways.
 Littlest Pet Shop(R):
 As miniature collectible toys continue to be popular among kids, Littlest Pet Shop is a line of adorable pets, each of which has a magical action that brings it to life. The Littlest Pet Shop "menagerie" consists of Ready To Go Pets, Li'l Paw Prints Assortment, Pet Presents Assortment, Mommy and Babes Assortment, Cozy Home Pets, Pal Around Pups Assortment and the Pet Shop Playset. Kids are going to want all of these adorable pets for their very own.
 Baby Alive(R):
 In 1993, the Baby Alive line expands to include Newborn Baby Alive, which has all of the realism that has made Baby Alive the best selling feature doll of all time (close to 10 million dolls sold) as well as new features guaranteed to bring out the maternal instinct of any young girl.
 ACTIVITY AND DESIGN TOYS
 "As the 1992 Christmas buying season demonstrated, activity and design toys are the products of choice for kids and their parents," said Kent. "Their appeal stems from the fact that they constructively allow children to use their creativity in a fun, hands-on way, while at the same time inventing their own personalized jewelry, accessories and baked treats."
 EZ 2 Do(TM):
 Kenner gives young girls the chance to become their own fashion and accessory designers with the EZ 2 Do line of design sets. Kids can create and decorate everything from earrings, bracelets and necklaces to clothing, hats and stationary items. New for '93: The 2 Cool Jeweler System, Twist 'N Swirl Studio, and the EZ 2 Do Cool Glu set.
 Colorblaster(TM):
 Colorblaster, the top-selling spray art design toy, returns in 1993 with Travel Colorblaster, Colorblaster Stencil Sets, Colorblaster Permanent T-shirt Paint, and Travel Colorblaster Washable Ink. The Colorblaster line is sure to turn any child into an artist.
 Easy-Bake(R) Oven:
 Happy 30th birthday, Easy-Bake. That's right, after three decades the Easy-Bake Oven is more popular than ever, allowing moms and their daughters to create and enjoy great tasting treats together. In 1993, Easy-Bake expands to include the Mini Party Cookie Bakeset and new Four- Pack Mixes.
 Spirograph(R):
 Another Kenner Classic, Spirograph celebrated 28 years of tradition by adding an exciting new toy, Sparkle Spirograph, to the successful Spirograph line. Now kids can add the shine of glitter to their favorite geometric designs. Also available in 1993 are traditional Spirograph, Spirotot and Travel Spirograph.
