KENDALL TAKES HEALING TO A NEW LEVELWITH THE VENTEX(TM) WOUND DRESSING SYSTEM

MANSFIELD, Mass., April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Kendall Healthcare Products Company introduces the Ventex(TM) Wound Dressing System, a two- level wound care dressing system designed to control exudate in moderately to heavily draining wounds including venous ulcers, donor sites, abrasions, skin tears and Stage II and III pressure ulcers. Ventex Wound Dressing System relies on two dressings that work together to control exudate while optimizing a moist healing environment.
The first dressing, a vented, transparent film, allows wound visualization without disturbance of granulation or new epithelial tissue. Centrally located vents in the film allow controlled escape of excess exudate. Visualization can help eliminate unnecessary painful dressing changes. Stretch and conformability help to maximize patient comfort and improve wear time.
The second, absorbent, dressing is placed over the vented dressing. Specially engineered to wick and absorb excess exudate away from the wound site, the pad is highly absorbent. In fact, this dressing can absorb over 15 times its weight in excess exudate. For enhanced safety, the absorbent dressing features a polyurethane backing which forms an effective barrier against bacteria and fluids. It seals out the external environment of all four of its sides.
"Extensive laboratory and clinical research led to the unique two- level design of the Ventex Wound Dressing System," states Andy Birken, Kendall product manager. Further, he adds, Ventex dressings provide many of the same advantages of hydrocolloids, hydrogels and foams while minimizing their inherent disadvantages.
The Ventex Wound Dressing System is part of Kendall's extensive wound care product line. The company continues to introduce new products to the wound care market based not only on sound clinical practices and research but also on commitment to provide products that ease the clinician's role, are safe to use and enhance would healing cost effectively.
For deeper wounds and those in difficult-to-dress areas, Kendall has developed Curasorb(TM) Calcium Alginate Dressings. This calcium-rich dressing forms a nonadherent gel by reacting with the sodium ions in wound exudate. The gel provides a moist healing environment and reduces the likelihood of maceration of healthy skin surrounding a wound. Curasorb dressings combine outstanding healing properties with versatility and conformability. Curasorb dressings are easily trimmed and customized for a variety of wounds, and are ideal for loose packing in deep wounds.
