KELSEY-HAYES GAINS SECOND ABS CONTRACT IN EUROPE

KELSEY-HAYES GAINS SECOND ABS CONTRACT IN EUROPE
 ROMULUS, Mich., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Kelsey-Hayes Group has

signed a contract with a second major European automaker to supply its latest generation anti-lock brake system (ABS) for the manufacturer's 1995 model year passenger vehicles. According to the contract, valued at over $10 million annually, Kelsey-Hayes will supply the automaker with approximately 50,000 units annually from its EBC(TM) 10 family of ABS.
James Cote, vice president of sales and marketing, Worldwide ABS and Controls Group, said the contract marks the company's second ABS supply agreement with a European automaker, and adds to the list of contracts for platforms already received in North America. The first European contract for the new ABS, valued at $100 million annually, was announced in May of this year.
"Both contracts in Europe represent significant milestones for the Kelsey-Hayes Worldwide ABS and Controls Group," Cote said. "They mark our growing presence in the international marketplace as well as the successful launch of our new family of ABS for passenger cars."
The EBC 10 family of ABS consists of innovative new four-wheel anti- lock braking systems which are significantly smaller and more cost- effective than other systems currently available. They are compatible with virtually any passenger car or light truck, and work with any front-, rear- or all-wheel drive vehicle.
Kelsey-Hayes is a major supplier of conventional brakes, anti-lock brake systems, electrical control devices and steel and aluminum wheels to the automotive industry worldwide. Kelsey-Hayes is a business of Varity Corporation (NYSE: VAT).
