KDDI and Tokyo Electric Announce Agreement on FTTH Business.

 Newswire) - KDDI Corporation and Tokyo Electric Power Company have today announced a mutual agreement to study the integration of TEPCO's Hikari Network Company's businesses with KDDI.

This agreement is formed based on the comprehensive alliance in telecommunications services formed on 13th Oct 2005 between KDDI and TEPCO TEPCO Tokyo Electric Power Co. (Japan)  and the findings of further discussions. The agreement specifically sets the end of September 2006 as a deadline to finalize discussions on issues such as analyses on the estimated value of Hikari Network Company's businesses, under the premise that Hikari Network Company's businesses will be integrated with KDDI by January 1, 2007.

Through the integration with KDDI, KDDI and TEPCO will aim to form a stronger telecommunications service group.

Under the comprehensive alliance, POWEREDCOM and KDDI will be merged from January 2006, while by June 2006, both companies intend to embark on fully developing the consolidated services in the FTTH (Fiber To The Home) See FTTP.  business provided since November last year.
