KCP&L Wins "Best Practices Award for Utility Marketing" For Its Innovative ThermoCalc Integrated Media Campaign.

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L), a wholly owned subsidiary of Great Plains Energy Incorporated, took top honors this month winning Chartwell's 2006 Best Practices Award for Utility Marketing at the annual Energy Marketing and Customer Service (EMACS) Conference in Chicago.

KCP&L's ThermoCalc campaign successfully drew customers to its website with effective multi-touch point advertising of its online tool to help homeowners calculate home-specific dollar savings from thermostat adjustments. Once there, customers were also introduced to KCP&L's Home Energy Analyzer "bill control dashboard." This online tool uses customer-specific information to explain monthly and annual bill changes, energy costs by appliance, how bills compare with similar customers, and how customers can participate in KCP&L's latest energy efficiency and demand control programs. KCP&L's ThermoCalc and online energy analysis system are based on the ENERGYprism[R] software suite, developed by Nexus Energy Software and jointly configured and installed by a team of Nexus and KCP&L staff.
