KCBS' LOIS MELKONIAN AND CHRONICLE'S BILL WORKMAN TO HOST PENINSULA PRESS CLUB'S AWARDS DINNER; TENDERLOIN TIMES TO BE HONORED

SAN MATEO, Calif., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- KCBS morning co-anchor Lois Melkonian and veteran San Francisco Chronicle reporter Bill Workman will share master-of-ceremonies honors at the Peninsula Press Club's 16th Annual Professional Journalism Awards Dinner next week.
The dinner and awards presentations will be held Friday, March 26, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Burlingame. The dinner will begin at 7 p.m., preceded by no-host cocktails starting at 6 p.m. The Press Club is in the process of notifying the winners among the 400 entries in more than 50 print, photo and electronic media categories. Plaques of excellence will be presented to the winners.
At the dinner, the Press Club will present the annual Bonnie Chastain Community Service Award to The Tenderloin Times, which has been serving San Francisco's inner-city since 1977. The Times' hard-hitting coverage has resulted in significant advances in the Tenderloin. The newspaper is written, edited and published in three languages -- English, Vietnamese and Cambodian.
Tickets to the dinner and awards ceremony are $40 per person and may be obtained by calling 415-853-5505.
Founded in 1972, the Peninsula Press Club is one of California's largest non-profit organizations for news media and public relations professionals.
