KAO DIDAK APPOINTS DISTRIBUTOR IN MEXICO
TO SELL FULL LINE OF DATA STORAGE PRODUCTS
ARNPRIOR, Ontario, March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Kao Didak today announced the appointment of Word Processing Mexicana, S.A. de C.V. as its sole distributor for Kao's data storage products in Mexico.
Under the agreement, Word Processing Mexicana, S.A. de C.V. will sell Kao Didak's full line of both standard and high density products including 3.5-inch and 5.25-inch disks, formatted and colored diskettes, data cartridges and digital audio tapes (DATs). The products will be available to major dealers and distributors in Mexico.
The agreement underscores Kao's commitment to aggressively promote Kao data storage products worldwide. During the last four years, more than 15 distributors have been appointed by the company in the Middle East, Africa, Oceania and South America. Kao Didak began targeting the Mexican market in 1989 when it began negotiations with Word Processing Mexicana, S.A. de C.V. The Kao diskette was officially launched at the Expo Comm show in Mexico City in February 1992.
Yehiel Sobol, president of Kao Didak said, "The Free Trade Agreement presently being negotiated between Canada, the U.S. and Mexico will play a vital role in the success of the Kao brand diskette. The Free Trade Agreement allows us to compete in Mexico, and our products will be successful here because of our commitment to quality and service. We view the Mexican market with as much importance as we view the American and Canadian markets, because eventually they will be one."
Word Processing Mexicana, S.A. de C.V. is a member of the Saisa group. During the last 15 years they have developed a nationwide distribution network for computer supplies.
Kao has been the leading supplier of diskettes to the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) industry for two consecutive years, according to a leading industry analyst firm.
Kao Didak, located in Arnprior, Ontario, and Kao Infosystems Company, located in Plymouth, Mass., work together to better serve North America. The companies' products, including diskettes, data cartridges and digital audio tapes (DATs), incorporate advanced surface science technology. Kao Didak is a direct subsidiary of Kao Corporation, a $5 billion Japanese conglomerate established in 1887. Kao Infosystems Company is a division of Kao Corporation of America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kao Corporation.
