 KAISER ALUMINUM TO PROVIDE TECHNOLOGY AND SERVICES
 FOR SAMYANG ROLLING MILL IN KOREA
 OAKLAND, Calif., May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corp. announced today that it has signed with Samyang Metal Co. Ltd., a five-year technology licensing and technical services agreement.
 Under the agreement, Kaiser will provide technology, technical expertise, and training for a new aluminum rolling mill that Samyang is currently constructing in Yongju, Korea. The mill will produce a full range of aluminum sheet and plate products including can stock.
 Financial terms are not being disclosed. The agreement has been approved by both the United States and Korean governments.
 Under a separate agreement, Kaiser will market the Yongju rolling mill's products in North America.
 Kaiser Aluminum will be involved in the project from the design stage, through the installation of equipment, to the phased startup of the plant which is scheduled to begin in July.
 Kaiser's technology was developed at its Center for Technology in Pleasanton, Calif., and its Trentwood, Wash., rolling mill. It has been proven in operation at Trentwood and several other rolling mills around the world, where it has improved performance and reduced costs. Trentwood has recently received quality awards from several of its customers, including Miller Brewing and Ball Packaging Products Group.
 Samyang Metal Co. is a Seoul, Korea-based company that operates a stainless steel rolling mill and is one of the leading suppliers of stainless steel products in Korea.
 Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corporation is the operating subsidiary of Kaiser Aluminum Corp. (NYSE: KLU), which is 87 percent owned by MAXXAM Inc. (AMEX: MXM)
