K&R's Robert Kessler Tells Health Lawyers That Disclosure of Agent and Broker Compensation Creates New Legal Paradigm for Health Plans and Insurers.

LOS ANGELES -- Robert M. Kessler, a partner at K&R Law Group LLP, addressed members of the nation's premier association of health lawyers at a meeting of the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA)'s HMO and Health Plan Practice Group.

Kessler informed the audience that the regulatory response to recent events surrounding investigations into compensation practices at insurance brokerage firms is creating a new and tougher legal environment for health plans and insurance companies.

The meeting took place last week in Amelia Island, Fla., at the Law Conference for Health Plans, Insurers and Providers, which was co-sponsored by the AHLA and America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP). Kessler was joined in his presentation by William Flanagan of Crowell & Moring LLP.
