 Newswire) - Justsystems, Inc. today announced the company's participation as a founding member of the ODF (OpenDocument Format) See OpenDocument.  Alliance, which was established in Washington, DC, on March 3.

The ODF Alliance was formed for the dissemination of Oasis Open Document Format for Office Applications OASIS Open Document Format for Office Applications - OpenDocument  (ODF), a type of XML-based Office software. ODF is standardized by the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS), an organization that supports the standardization of technology used in the exchange of business information.

Justsystems is the only corporation from Japan to participate in the Alliance, which was formed by 35 companies and organizations worldwide including, Corel Corporation (company) Corel Corporation - A software publisher best known for the CorelDraw application. The full-fledged spread of ODF is expected to encourage a dramatic increase in information storage and exchange by corporations and governments, thereby realizing more global business activities and a more affluent living environment.

Having long offered advanced and user-friendly computer applications, Justsystems will launch modules designed for the OpenDocument-format XML XML
 in full Extensible Markup Language.

Markup language developed to be a simplified and more structural version of SGML. It incorporates features of HTML (e.g., hypertext linking), but is designed to overcome some of HTML's limitations.

Justsystem's 'xfy', a native XML application development and runtime environment, is a highly versatile processing platform that enables users to handle both open data format ODF and a variety of XML vocabularies in a single document. Given ODF's potential to become a widely used document format in the future, ODF, together with xfy, has great potential for use as an enterprise system in which data and business processes are flexibly integrated.
