Jupiter Telecommunications to Provide Japan's First News-on-demand Service.


Tokyo, Japan, Sept 22, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - Jupiter Telecommunications announced on September 21 the start of a news-on-demand service on October 3 as part of its video-on-demand service J:COM-on-Demand. The new service will store in its server Tokyo Update, Nikkei CNBC Nikkei CNBC (日経CNBC) is a business and financial news channel broadcast in Japan owned by CNBC Asia and Japanese Business newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun.  Japan's program that provides stock market reports at close via CS digital broadcast on weekdays, so the program will be viewed on an on-demand basis merely 45 minutes after it goes live.

The first of its kind in Japan, the new service will be available to viewers in the Kanto area and in Sapporo. Jupiter Telecommunications will distribute from October 14 a special edition of Money Club, a talk-show program broadcast every Tuesday night on the Nikkei CNBC Express channel on a free-on-demand basis.

The company will also make Utsukushiki Nippon Hyakuno Fukei (Beautiful Japan with 100 Scenic Spots), an NHK NHK Nippon Hoso Kyokai (Japan Broadcasting Corporation)
NHK Nihon Hoso Kyokai (Japanese Broadcasting Association)
NHK Nihon Hikikomori Kyokai (anime) 
 program, available in high-definition format from October-end.

In addition, the company started this month distributing movie titles that are owned by CBS Paramount International Television CBS Paramount International Television (CPITV) was a multinational television production/distribution arm of CBS Paramount Television and owned by CBS Corporation that was formed in 2004 by Viacom, as a result of a merger between two television companies, .
