Three of the world's best in the men's triple jump and women's long jump have joined the field for this Saturday's Prefontaine Classic The Prefontaine Classic is one of the premier track and field meets in the United States. Every year it draws a world caliber field to compete at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field. History

Americans Kenta Bell Kenta Bell (born March 16, 1977) is an American track and field athlete who competes mainly in the triple jump. He won this event at the 2001 Universiade and the 2003 national championship. Bell has also finished third in two IAAF World Athletics Finals.  and Walter Davis Walter Davis may refer to:

His personal best jump is 17.50 metres, achieved in May 2002 in Odessa. This is the current Bahamian record.

With the addition of U.S. Olympic Trials winner Melvin Lister, who sailed 58 feet, 4 inches, all four athletes had jumps of at least 57 feet last year. They will challenge one of the Pre Classic's oldest records - Kenny Harrison's leap of 56-2 set in 1988.

Ems' single-game tickets go on sale Wednesday

Single-game tickets for the Eugene Emeralds short-season Class A baseball team will go on sale at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The tickets, at $9 each for box seats, can be charged using Visa or Mastercard by calling 342-5367.

Season tickets, priced at $265, and 10-game packs, priced at $90 per seat, also are available.

Malone honored as top UO women's track performer

Oregon saluted its outstanding track and field athletes at the team awards banquet Sunday, with senior javelin thrower Sarah Malone being honored as the women's performer of the year.

Malone, a senior from Newberg, finished her home collegiate career in style with a school record of 186 feet, 10 inches on her final throw of the recent NCAA NCAA

Other women's awards went to sprinter Sofie Abildtrup, a senior from Denmark, for most inspirational; multi-event athlete Lauryn Jordan, a junior from Stockton, Calif., for most points; and shot put and discus thrower Bree Fuqua, a senior from Polson, Mont., for most improved. Laura Harmon, a senior all-American from Vancouver, Wash., also received the team's cross country award.

For the Duck men, the high point and outstanding performer recipients will be determined after the NCAA Championships in Sacramento have concluded on June 11.

Chosen as most inspirational was horizontal jumper Leonidas Watson, a senior from St. Louis, who holds indoor school records in both the long jump and triple jump.

Running away with the most-improved honor was Kedar Inico, a senior from New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
, who recently captured both the Pac-10 and NCAA West Regional 400-meter crowns.

Receiving the Bill Dellinger cross country award was Canby senior Eric Logsdon, a two-time all-American.

Reign take five of six

at softball invitational

McMINNVILLE - The Oregon Reign 18U softball team wrapped up play at the McMinnville Invitational by winning five of six games on Sunday and Monday.

The Reign defeated the Silver Bullets 7-1 behind a 12-hit attack and a combined two-hitter by Kelly Dyer and Jackie Sharp before falling to the Beaverton Blaze 1-0.

The Eugene-area squad then swept four straight from the McMinnville Wild Rose (11-0), the Glacier 16 (5-2), the Vancouver Power (3-0) and the Oregon Breeze (6-3).

 West Coast hoops title

RENO, Nev. - Blake Harrison of Churchill scored 26 points to lead Team Flight of Oregon to a 71-62 victory over the TC Rebels of Seattle for the 15-and-under AAU West Coast Championship on Monday.

Drew Wiley of McKenzie added 15 points for Team Flight. Harrison was named the tournament's most valuable player.
