Julia S. Gouw, chief financial officer of East West Bancorp ranked
fifth on U.S. Banker's fourth annual fist of "The 25 Most
Powerful Women in Banking." She was eighth last year and seventh in
2004. The top four women are Marion O. Sandler, co-chief executive of
Golden West Financial Corp.; Amy Brinkley, global risk executive of Bank
America; Heidi Miller, chief executive of treasury and securities
services at JPMorgan Chase; and Ellen Alemany, chief executive of global
transaction services for corporate and investment banking at Citigroup.
