 told from the point of view of a confused little girl growing up into an intelligent woman who inspires others by her successes and life experiences.

Although she goes through common experiences, her point of view is intriguing in·trigue

 as we learn about each of her family members and Monei's relationship with them, especially her Grandmother who she is very close with.

The writer eloquently el·o·quent

 captures Monei's deepest thoughts and feelings about herself and her relationships. Each chapter is like a watching an episode in a movie, telling of a specific time in her life. The book gives great insight into village life with its strengths and superstitions. Although this novel moves at a slower pace than The Screaming of the Innocent, it is definitely worth a read.

Unity Dow Unity Dow (born 1959) is a judge, human rights activist, and writer from Botswana. She came from a rural background that tended toward traditional values of the African kind. Her mother could not read English, and in most cases decision-making was done by men. , Juggling Truths, Double Storey Books, Cape Town Cape Town or Capetown, city (1991 pop. 854,616), legislative capital of South Africa and capital of Western Cape, a port on the Atlantic Ocean. It was the capital of Cape Province before that province's subdivision in 1994.  2004
