Juggle time.

Drop what you're doing. It's time to throw! Juggling may LOOK hard, but it's EASY to learn. U*S*Kids asked juggler ZenNile Seifu to teach you how. With ZenNile's help and a bit of practice, you'll soon be a juggler, too. So start throwing, and "Keep your eyes on the skies!" (That's the way jugglers say, "Good luck!")

You will need three large, lightweight, square scarves. See-through juggling scarves (available from toy or magic stores) work best. If you can't find scarves, use paper towels or unfolded paper dinner napkins. Crumple and uncrumple them so they aren't too stiff.

ONE SCARF

1. Hold the scarf by its middle in your left hand.

2. Swing your left arm across your body. Toss the scarf above your right shoulder.

3. Reach up with your right hand and catch the scarf. Claw down like a cat.

4. Bring your right arm down and swing it across in front of you.

5. Let go of the scarf by your left shoulder. Claw down with your left hand to catch it...

6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 over and over. Follow a figure-eight path. Always keep an eye on the scarf!

TWO SCARVES

1. Hold one scarf in each hand.

2. Throw the scarf in your left hand across your body.

3. Then throw the other scarf across your body in the opposite direction. Don't throw them at the same time.

4. Claw down with your right hand to catch the first scarf and then...

5. ...claw down with your left hand to catch the second scarf. Repeat steps 1 to 5 over and over. Remember: Throw, throw--catch, catch.

THREE SCARVES

1. Hold two scarves in your right hand and one scarf in your left (see above). We have numbered the scarves for you.

2. Start throwing with the hand that has two scarves. When Scarf 1 gets to the top...

3. ...throw Scarf 2 from your left hand. Catch Scarf 1 with your left hand as it comes down.

4. When Scarf 2 gets to the top, throw Scarf 3. As your right hand comes down from throwing Scarf 3...

5. ...catch Scarf 2. Throw Scarf 1 again, this time from your left hand, and catch Scarf 3. Keep going--right, left, right, left.

Three-Scarf Tips

* Start with the hand that holds two.

* Keep your eye on the scarves.

* Reach up to throw, claw down to catch.

* Follow the figure-8 pattern.

* To become a great juggler, practice a little each day.

* Check the library for books on juggling.

* Teach a friend to juggle!

You are now officially a juggler!
