Sara Lee Corporation (NYSE: SLE) is a global consumer-goods company based in Downers Grove, Illinois, USA.
 Corporation today announced that its shareholders have elected Judith A. Sprieser to the corporation's board of directors. The board elected Sprieser an executive vice president of the corporation at its meeting earlier today. Both appointments are effective immediately. Sprieser, the corporation's chief financial officer, reports to John H. Bryan John Henry Bryan, Jr. is the former CEO of the Sara Lee Corporation.

A graduate of Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee and Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, he is also affiliated with the French Legion of Honor, the World Economic Forum, and was a Member of
, chairman of the board and chief executive officer.

Sprieser, 45, was appointed senior vice president-chief financial officer in October 1994. Her areas of responsibility include the corporation's tax, accounting, insurance, treasury, purchasing, internal audit and information systems functions. She also is a member of the supervisory board Supervisory board

Sprieser joined Sara Lee Corporation in 1987 as assistant treasurer. Sprieser began her career in 1974 as a commercial banker for Harris Bank. In 1981, she joined Esmark as director of treasury operations, and she became assistant treasurer-international for Nalco Chemical Company in Naperville, Ill., in 1984. Sprieser joins Joan D. Manley and Rozanne L. Ridgway Rozanne L. Ridgway (born August 22, 1935 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, served 32 years with the U.S. State Department, holding several posts, including ambassador to Finland and to East Germany, and finished her career as assistant Secretary of State for European and Canadian Affairs.  as the third woman currently serving on Sara Lee's board of directors. Her appointment coincides with the retirements of three long-time, outside directors, effective this month: Allen Jacobson, Newton Minow and Sir Arvi Parbo. Their 35 years of combined service to Sara Lee is being recognized at the corporation's annual meeting of stockholders meeting today. Sara Lee now has 17 directors on its board.
