Judge pushes back astronaut trialA judge has pushed back a trial date for former astronaut Lisa Nowak, accused of taking a frenzied road trip to attack a romantic rival. Nowak's trial was originally set to begin Sept. 24, but Circuit Court Judge Marc Lubet signed a continuance order Monday. Pretrial hearings in the case are scheduled next week on defense motions to throw out Nowak's arrest interview with police and the search of her car. Nowak, 44, is charged with attempted kidnapping, battery and burglary with assault. She has pleaded not guilty, though her attorney has filed notice of intent to use an insanity defense. Nowak was arrested in February after confronting Colleen Shipman over a love triangle involving former astronaut Bill Oefelein. Nowak allegedly stalked Shipman at the Orlando airport, then attacked her with pepper spray as Shipman arrived at her car. Nowak, a married mother of three, allegedly drove nearly 1,000 miles from Houston to Orlando to execute the attack. Police said she was carrying a duffel bag containing a steel mallet, a 4-inch knife and a BB gun.
