Judge not.I enjoyed reading Peter Gilmour's July Odds & Ends ("Tuesdays with Mormons"). I was especially pleased to see him refer to Mormons as Christians. A few years ago I attended a program on ecumenism ecumenism Movement toward unity or cooperation among the Christian churches. The first major step in the direction of ecumenism was the International Missionary Conference of 1910, a gathering of Protestants. where a local priest said the official position of the Catholic Church was that Mormons were not Christians. I do not know where this ridiculous idea originated. It is insulting and wrong and does unnecessary harm to the ecumenical movement ecumenical movement (ĕk'y mĕn`ĭkəl, ĕk'yə–), name given to the movement aimed at the unification of the Protestant churches of the world and ultimately of .
