Journey to Union Sq.

GVA Williams represented Journeys, a destination retailer of footwear and accessories for the teen market, in its negotiations for its 2,500-square-foot, ten-year lease at 28 East 14th Street.

Patrick Breslin, president of GVA Williams' retail group, and Cristina Hawes, director, represented Journeys' parent company, Genesco. The landlord, Ultimate Realty LLC, was represented by Jason Pruger, Managing Director, and Jay Gilbert, Associate of Newmark Retail.

"Union Square's diverse, young and fashion-focused teen shopper is Journeys' target customer," said Breslin. "In addition to the area's cachet with a savvy teen shopper demographic, the high-volume of foot traffic and easy transportation access at Union Square is ideal for a Journeys street-level store."

"Journeys is a trendy retailer who launched their first high-profile store on 34th Street, where they have had tremendous success," said Pruger. "Union Square was the next area they were focused on, and this location fit them to boot."

The new Journeys retail destination at Union Square will join other tenants new to the Union Square shopping district, including such prominent tenants as Whole Foods, Forever 21, American Eagle, Trader Joe's, DSW Shoes, Filene's Basement, and Sephora.

GVA Williams also represented Journeys in leasing its first Manhattan retail street location at The Herald Center on 34th Street, which opened in May.
