Journey into Art.

JOURNEY INTO ART. Seonaid McArthur. The Art Institute of Chicago, 1990. 148 pp., softbound.

Subtitled "A teaching key to the visual arts," and designed to enable teachers to introduce their students to a number of works in the Art Institute of Chicago by encouraging discussion and critical thinking, this publication has five sections: Beginning the Journey, The Artist's Tools, Meet the Artist, Time Travel and World Travel. Within the sections, each work is studied through a variety of approaches including related opportunities for creative expression. While only a photocopied version is available at this time, the many unique strategies employed to motivate children to learn about art makes this a

worthwhile resource. A final version, when printed, will be sold with slides, but meanwhile this is a bargain at only $10.00. Send requests for the book to: School Programs, The Art Institute of Chicago, Michigan at Adams Street, Chicago, IL 60603.
