The English translation of Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifice is "For Church and Pope", and is also known as the "Cross of Honour"[1]. , by Pope John Paul II Pope John Paul II (Latin: Ioannes Paulus PP. II, Italian: Giovanni Paolo II, Polish: Jan Paweł II) born Karol Józef Wojtyła . The honor was bestowed upon Mr. Fernandez Bjerg for his dedication and personal service over many years to social and educational organizations in Puerto Rico, the United States and other countries. Cross Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice medal is one of the highest honors bestowed on lay persons and clergy who have given special service to the Catholic Church. Mr. Fernandez Bjerg's nomination was made by the Silesians Society of Puerto Rico and recommended to the Pope by the Archbishop of San Juan.
