Kinross and Placer Dome Placer Dome was a large mining company specializing in gold and other precious metals, with corporate headquarters in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Barrick has acquired 100% of the Placer Dome shares on January 20, 2006, and has integrated the company into its own. Inc. formed the PJV July 1, 2002 in an effort to combine their Timmins assets. The objective of the merger was to combine Placer Dome's large, modern milling facility with Kinross' huge and prospective land package. The ownership of the joint venture is 49 per cent Kinross and 51 per cent Placer with the latter as the operator. The PJV produced 44, 344 ounces of gold in the three months ending Sept. 30. |
