John Lee Hooker's Daughter, Zakiya, Joins Peter Green Splinter Group in San Francisco.

When the Peter Green Splinter Group The Peter Green Splinter Group was a band led by renowned blues guitarist and singer, Peter Green.

Green was the leader of Fleetwood Mac until he suffered a mental breakdown during the 1970s.

Zakiya Hooker has recorded the song "I Want to Hug You" for the tribute album and will be sharing memories of her father in the CD's liner notes. Volume 1 also includes British legends Jeff Beck, Mick Taylor, Jack Bruce, Gary Moore and Gary Brooker. Volume II will feature many American musicians. Of special interest to John Lee's fans will be a bonus track of a previously unreleased version of Jimi Hendrix' "Red House" performed by the late John Lee Hooker, Booker T and Randy California.

John Lee Hooker lived in San Francisco and passed away there in June of 2001 so it is fitting that his daughter joins Peter Green Splinter Group here. Peter Green was a founding member of Fleetwood Mac, wrote "Black Magic Woman" and is the only Brit who has ever won a WC Handy Award.

They will be playing Bimbo's 365 Club on Friday, May 10th.
