Jobs getting harder to come by in L.A. County, reports Econowatch.

An index of help-wanted classified advertising sank to 87 in September, down from a revised figure of 88 in August, and off 30.4 percent from September a year ago, according to the New York-based Conference Board, a business research group.

This important indicator continues to suggest a Southland economy struggling with recession.

The Chapter 11 bankruptcies, generally involving medium-sized or larger companies, have been around the 200 figure since March.

There were 5,807 companies that declared Chapter 7 liquidation The collection of assets belonging to a debtor to be applied to the discharge of his or her outstanding debts.
