Joanne (Mauro) Montvitt, 101.
Mrs. Montvitt was a graduate of the Fayville School and attended the former Peter's High School in Southborough. She worked for the former Dennison Manufacturing Co. for 13 years until her first child was born. Along with raising her family she spent many hours working the family farm and the farm stand, known as aeMauro's Roadside Farm Stand', located on Rte 9 in Southborough. She lived on her own and was active and alert until the end of her life. She was a member of St. Matthew Church, of Southborough and the Southborough Catholic Women's Club. In addition to gardening, she enjoyed baking and cooking.
She is survived by 2 sons, Ronald Montvitt and his wife Filomena, Robert Montvitt and his wife Flavia all of Southborough; 8 grandchildren, Diana Jones of Southborough; Ronald Montvitt, Jr of S. Grafton, Cynthia Tenaglia of Hudson, Mark Montvitt of Southborough, Michelle Montvitt of Italy, Theresa Montvittt of Ashland, Judy Moineau of Northborough, David Montvitt of Leominster; 11 great grandchildren; 5 nephews, Willard, Leland, Calvin, John, & William Mauro; and many great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Julian "Junior" Montvitt and her siblings, Charles, Joseph, Eugene & Marion Mauro.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 7, from 4 to 8 at Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St. Southborough (Morrisfuneralparlor.com) A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 8, at 10 a.m at St. Matthew Church, Highland St., Southborough. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery, Southborough.
