Joanna Lau wins NDIA's 2005 Small Business Award.


The National Defense Industrial Association's Small Business Division has given its 2005 Dr. Kathleen P. Sridhar Small Business Executive of the Year Award to Joanna Lau, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization.  President Lawrence P. Farrell Jr. made the presentation at the association's annual National Small Business Conference, held recently in San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay. , Calif.

Lau was selected for her long-term contributions to national security. Over the years, she has provided the Defense Department with many products for the Army and Air Force. She serves as a member of NDIA's Board of Directors and on the Executive Committee of the Small Business Division.

The Sridhar Award is named for Dr. Kathleen P. Sridhar, who became its first recipient posthumously post·hu·mous

. She was recognized for her performance as a business executive and her support of defense-related small businesses while battling cancer.

Sridhar was the founder of INDUS Technology, of San Diego, a member of the NDIA Board of Trustees board of trustees Politics The posse of thugs who oversee an institution's administration. See Board of directors.  and a long-time advocate for small businesses in the defense industrial community. She also served as the president of NDIA's San Diego chapter.

The Sridhar Award is the third one presented by NDIA's board. The other two are the Dwight D. Eisenhower and Defense Industry Leadership Awards. The Small Business Division welcomes any nominations small business executives for the 2006 Sridhar Award.
