Rosenthal, who previously served as the company's executive vice president of Business Development, has been New Line's chief strategist in building a diversified new media portfolio. In the past year, Rosenthal has navigated the studio's investment in Snowball.com, and he has overseen the development and launch of a highly popular film memorabilia auction site on the World Wide Web.

"Over the past several years, New Line has been steadily building a stable of new media assets that add significant value to our core filmed entertainment business," Lynne said.

"As we have launched this new division, Jim has put New Line New Media on the map with innovative investments and the creation of successful, consumer-driven Web sites. We are extremely enthusiastic about our future in this medium and we know that Jim will continue to align us with partners who will define this industry in the years to come."

New Line New Media is actively pursuing opportunities that support and leverage New Line's film business as well as businesses that further the company's history of entertainment programming targeting young adults. Rosenthal will work closely with Time Warner Digital Media, coordinating his activities with the strategic objectives set by Richard Bressler, chairman of TWDM TWDM Time and Wavelength Division Multiplexing
