WHAT: A tribute dinner honoring Esther Schlorholtz, director of
Boston Private Bank & Trust's community investment program.
Ms. Schlorholtz and Boston Private Bank & Trust Company are the
recipients of the Jewish Alliance for Law & Social Action
(JALSA) 2005 Distinguished Community Leadership Award, which
recognizes those in Greater Boston who have demonstrated
outstanding service in the community.
Scheduled guests and presenters include Boston Mayor Tom
Menino; Alan Solomont, Chairman and CEO of Solomont Bailis
Ventures; Reverend Eugene Rivers, President of the National
TenPoint Leadership Foundation; Kate Sides Flather, Vice
Chairman of the Child Welfare League of America; and Charles
Grigsby, Senior Vice President of the Life Initiative.
JALSA is a Boston-based human rights organization whose
approach to law and social action is shaped by Jewish
teachings, values and traditions.
WHO: Well known throughout the Boston area for her dedication to
improving the community, Esther Schlorholtz, senior vice
president and corporate CRA officer of Boston Private Bank, is
responsible for implementing and managing the Bank's community
investment program. She originates affordable housing and
community economic development lending, and manages the Bank's
CRA investment and charitable donations program. Prior to her
service at the Bank, she supervised federal, state and city
funding to create affordable housing and encourage economic
development for the City of Boston.
Guided by its commitment to community investment and its focus
on building partnerships, Boston Private Bank works with local
communities, government agencies, neighborhood groups,
developers, small businesses, and individuals to respond to
neighborhood needs. The Bank has a highly successful track
record financing affordable housing, transitional housing for
survivors of domestic violence, child care facilities, schools,
and retail and office space.
