Jerry Kasner honored with lifetime achievement award.


Jerry Kasner will receive the 2004 Lifetime Achievement Award from the California CPA (Computer Press Association, Landing, NJ) An earlier membership organization founded in 1983 that promoted excellence in computer journalism. Its annual awards honored outstanding examples in print, broadcast and electronic media. The CPA disbanded in 2000.  Education Foundation at the July 16 Annual Members Business Meeting.

 classes for the Education Foundation for many years. He received the California CPA Education Foundation's Award for Meritorious Service in 1985.

Known for his outstanding contributions to estate planning Estate Planning

The overall planning of a person's wealth, including the preparation of a will and the planning of taxes after the individual's death.

Contrary to popular belief, estate planning involves much more than preparing a will, and it is not only for the
 professionals, Kasner served as a mentor to many estate planners in Santa Clara County.

"Jerry is an awesome teacher and he's always been a highly admired role model," says Michael Gray, a San Jose-based CPA. "His courses are where I got a lot of my basic education on estate planning, and most people in estate administration feel his books are an invaluable reference."

The Silicon Valley San Jose Chapter previously honored Kasner with a framed certificate of appreciation and by renaming the scholarship award--for an outstanding Santa Clara University senior accounting student--The Jerry Kasner Scholarship.

Kasner received a bachelor's degree in science in 1955 and his juris doctor The degree awarded to an individual upon the successful completion of law school.

Juris doctor, or doctor of Jurisprudence, commonly abbreviated J.D., is the degree commonly conferred by law schools.
 in 1957 from Drake University. He began practicing law in lowa in 1957, and in California in 1959.

In addition to his work with CalCPA, Kasner is a member of the California Bar Association and Santa Clara Bar Association, and is an academic fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel

He has authored several books on estate planning, including After Death Tax Planning Tax planning
