Jerry Cohen, Dan Gronich & Sydney Luria honored.

The Real Estate Board of New York's (REBNY) Board of Governors recently honored three long-time members for their many years of dedicated service.

Dan Gronich and Jerry L. Cohen were named honorary lifetime members of the Board of Governors, while Sydney A. Luria was named honorary lifetime Legal Counsel.

All still active members of the board, REBNY took this opportunity to pay tribute to the three for their careers' worth of hard work.

"I am delighted that we are recognizing these three individuals for their countless contributions and commitment to our industry," said Steven Spinola, President of REBNY. "The board looks forward to continuing to benefit from the wisdom and professionalism that they have displayed in their many years in industry."

Their length of service to our industry and the Board is appreciated, and this is one small way of making note of their untiring efforts."

Dan Gronich has served on REBNY's Board of Governors since 1985.

Involved in real estate services and investments since 1976, Mr. Gronich has worked on the acquisition, redevelopment and sale of property, as well as development consultation, and office and retail leasing.

He has consistently won national and local awards and honors with Grubb & Ellis and won several REBNY awards, including the Louis Smadbeck Broker Recognition Award in 1998 and the Most Ingenious Deal of the Year Award in 2002. Mr. Gronich has served on REBNY's committees for Leasing Brokers, Sales Brokers, Retail and Ethics. He was a member of the Executive Committee from 1988 to 2003, and also has served as assistant treasurer, treasurer and vice president.

A CPA and former tax supervisor, Gronich leverages his business sense and real estate expertise to counsel clients ranging from the United States Customs Service and the Russian Trade and Cultural Center to the National Basketball Association and FAO Schqartz.

Jerry L. Cohen, a longtime REBNY member, has been on the Board of Governors since 1979, was also a member of the Executive Committee for nearly a decade, and has served as vice president and vice chairman. Mr. Cohen has received many of the real estate industry's most distinguished awards including REBNY's Ingenious Deal of the Year award in 1970 and again in 1971.

In his long career in real estate, Mr. Cohen has been involved with Tishman Speyer Properties, LP, Cushman & Wakefield and Grubb & Ellis. Cohen has served as chair of the real estate division of both the UJA-Federation and Israel Bonds. He is a partner of the Yankee Global Enterprises and previously president of the New Jersey Nets.

Sydney A. Luria, having graduated from Harvard Law School in 1934, is a member of the Bar of the City of New York, New York County Lawyers Association, and New York State and American Bar Associations.

He is the senior member of the law firm of Carb, Luria, Cook & Kufeld LLP, and serves as counsel to Cushman and Wakefield, Inc. and to L. Luria & Sons, Inc.

Luria served as a member of the Board of Governors from 1974 to 1985, and has served as vice president and as counsel to the Real Estate Board of New York. During his long career, he has protected the industry's interests in many important amicus cases.
