In the presence of family and friends, Jennifer Bailey Jernigan and James "Bubba" Wayne Gross were united in marriage on April 22, 2006. The wedding and reception were held at the Colonel's Quarters Mansion in Oxford. Rev. Paul Middleton officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Boyd Jernigan of Madison. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Michael Gross, St. of Southaven.

Flower girls were Annabelle Elizabeth Bunch and Lauren McRea Gross, niece of the groom. Their attire included ivory satin dresses with sheer overlays and sashes made of mango satin taffeta. They wore halos of fresh flowers in their hair and carried ivory satin baskets filled with rose petals.

Best man was Stephen Michael Gross Jr., brother of the groom. Groomsmen included Dennis David Bond; Larry Everett Christman; Edward Burris Eldred; Thomas Monroe Ethridge III; Christopher Shane Honnell; Justin Bridges Jernigan, cousin of the bride; Benjamin David Murphy; Matthew Garrett Murphy; David Harold Roush Jr.; and Samuel Roland Taylor. Ring bearers were Stephen Michael Gross III, nephew of the groom, and William Bailey Lyon, cousin of the bride. The groom, fathers, groomsmen, and ring bearers all wore black Ralph Lauren tuxedos. The wedding party wore platinum formal ties and ivory shirts, while the groom wore an ivory tie and shirt.

The wedding ceremony was held on the mansion's front steps and lawn. Gross of Southaven, and the bride's grandmothers, Mrs. Mary Lou Jernigan of Jackson and Mrs. Martha Bailey of Winona.

The wedding processional entered to Pachelbel's "Canon in D." At the sound of a silver bell rung by Jackson Owen Smith, nephew of the groom, the bride accompanied by her father entered around the circular drive to the lawn in a white horse-drawn carriage. As Wagner's "Bridal March" played, the bride was escorted down a beautiful carpet of rose petals.

Shanna Lumpkin of A Southern Affair directed the rehearsal and wedding. Vocalists for the ceremony were Jan Reid Bunch, Marney Wilkerson and Stephen Gross. The reader was Natalie Farber with words from her own writing.

After the ceremony, everyone was invited to go through the house to the reception, while butlers waited with trays of hors d'oeuvres. At the reception, everyone gathered at a buffet around the pool. , smashed potatoes and toppings, miniature crabcakes, beef tenderloin, and ham with rolls. The pool was decorated with lavish floral arrangements and massive lighted ice sculptures. One ice sculpture was of the letter J. Carved inside were the names "James" and "Jennifer." The other ice sculpture was of the letter G in which the name "Gross" was carved. A four-tiered cake was served by the pool. It was adorned with the wedding flowers of fuchsia, green, and orange above a linen runner monogrammed with the couple's initials. The groom's table was a green moss tabletop with various heights of antiqued columns holding different flavored cheesecakes.

The garden served as the dance area. Oxford Floral decorated tables of fuchsia overlays and Chevalier chairs wrapped in orange tiebacks with colorful floral arrangements. Flowers used at the reception were roses, lilies, hydrangea, spray roses, orchids, and freesia.

As favors to their guests, large glass vases held miniature chocolates and golf tees with chocolate golf balls that were personalized with the couples names and date. For the children's favors, Wells Lyon, cousin of the bride, passed out large "whirly" lollipops tied with bright colored ribbons.

On the eve On the Eve (Накануне in Russian) is the third novel by famous Russian writer Ivan Turgenev, best known for his short stories and the novel Fathers and Sons.  of the wedding, the groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Downtown Grill in Oxford. The couple shared a montage of pictures at the dinner as a gift to their parents.

The band, Compozitionz, provided Motown favorites for dancing at the reception. Once the music ended, the couple departed under a canopy of sparklers. As they neared their limousine, fireworks fireworks: see pyrotechnics.
