Jeppesen Adopts Color Print-on-demand Technology from HP for Creating Airway Manual Charts and Pilot Manuals.

HP (NYSE:HPQ)(Nasdaq:HPQ) today announced that Jeppesen, the world's leading provider of aeronautical information, is using the unparalleled flexibility of HP's color digital presses to streamline production of their printing.

The high-speed digital offset color HP Indigo w3200 press allows Jeppesen to print on demand essential airway manuals and charts that allow pilots to safely navigate air space and airport approaches.

Jeppesen, a Boeing company, provides continually updated navigational charts to approximately 80 percent of the world's airlines and a similar share of the general aviation market, which includes corporate and recreational air traffic.

More than a billion charts each year are produced by combined printing facilities at Jeppesen's worldwide headquarters in Denver, where two HP Indigo w3200 presses were installed earlier this year, and the company's Eastern Hemisphere headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany, where three additional HP Indigo w3200 presses are scheduled for installation.

Historically, Jeppesen has provided major airline customers with tailored coverages that meet specific routing needs but which can be cost prohibitive for general aviation customers. The Web-fed HP Indigo press w3200, designed for high-volume variable data printing, helps streamline the chart printing process through fast, efficient in-line collation and will ultimately enable Jeppesen to offer a greater degree of content customization at more affordable prices.

With the HP Indigo press w3200, the most complex chart graphics and photos are printed fast and consecutively, eliminating production time normally spent on collation. The reduction of excess paper driven by digital printing represents additional cost savings and helps build greater flexibility into Jeppesen's overall printing operation.

HP's offset-quality color digital printing technology is also expected to assist in driving future pilot use and acceptance of Jeppesen's Electronic Flight Bag, an innovative information management and delivery service designed to replace heavy bags of flight manuals. Beyond the five HP Indigo press w3200s already installed or planned to be in the near-term, Jeppesen also anticipates adding more HP digital presses in the future -- an expansion attributable to HP's ongoing leadership in innovative digital publishing solutions.
