Jeffrey P. Stamen Joins Progress Software Corporation as Strategic Member of the Senior Management Team; Innovative Industry Veteran to Oversee Corporate Development and Strategy.


BEDFORD, Mass. -- Progress Software Corporation (Nasdaq: PRGS PRGS Phosphoribosylglycinamide Synthetase ), a global supplier of application infrastructure software used to develop, deploy, integrate and manage business applications, today announced the appointment of Jeffrey P. Stamen stamen, one of the four basic parts of a flower. The stamen (microsporophyll), is often called the flower's male reproductive organ. It is typically located between the central pistil and the surrounding petals.  as senior vice president, corporate development and strategy for Progress Software Corporation (PSC (Public Service Commission) Same as PUC. ). In this role, he has assumed responsibility for corporate development and product strategies for PSC overall, as well as its operating companies: the Progress OpenEdge Division, Sonic Software Corporation, DataDirect Technologies and the Progress Real Time Division.

Stamen has a long and distinguished career in the software industry, which most recently included his role as CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Syncra Systems, a leading company in the supply chain collaboration space. Previously, he was a senior vice president at Oracle Corporation, responsible for Oracle's OLAP (OnLine Analytical Processing) Decision support software that allows the user to quickly analyze information that has been summarized into multidimensional views and hierarchies. OLAP tools are used to perform trend analysis on sales and financial information.  (analytical) and data warehousing products. Stamen also served as president of IRI Iri (ē`rē`), former city, North Jeolla (Cholla) prov., SW South Korea. An agricultural center and transportation hub, it was absorbed into Iksan.  Software, a position he assumed when IRI acquired Management Decision Systems where he oversaw the Express OLAP product (the first true "multi-dimensional database") as senior vice president of development.

A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Massachusetts Institute of Technology, at Cambridge; coeducational; chartered 1861, opened 1865 in Boston, moved 1916. It has long been recognized as an outstanding technological institute and its Sloan School of Management has notable programs in business, , Stamen began his career as a database developer, leading a joint MIT/Harvard project where he developed an entity-relationship database. Afterward, he joined Mitrol, Inc., where he headed the development of the MIMS MIMS Music Is My Savior (music album)

 4GL, a predecessor of Progress' fourth-generation language (Progress(R) 4GL). Stamen served as a board member when PSC (then called Data Language Corporation) was founded in the early 1980s.
