JASPER JOHNS WORK SINCE 1974. Mark Rosenthal. New York: Thames and Hudson, Inc., 1990. Illustrated, 112 pp., softbound. $19.95.

A paperback printing of a 1988 hardbound edition, this book presents seventy-five works shown in Johns' major retrospective at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Thirty-five of these are in color. The work shown is extended with substantial and insightful text. The author, who also curated the exhibit, provides a thoughtful critique of Johns' work from his so-called crosshatch paintings to his recent "The Seasons" series.
