Japan Telecom and Cisco Team to Offer End-to-End Networking Solutions; Japan Telecom First to Operate a Cisco Powered Network in Japan.

TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 9, 1998--Japan Telecom Company, Ltd. and Cisco Systems, Inc. today announced that they will work together to deliver ATM, Frame Relay and Internet access services to business customers in Japan.

With a Cisco Powered Network, Japan Telecom offers customers reliable, secure and high-performance networking services. The relationship highlights Japan Telecom's and Cisco's focus on using intelligent IP and broadband networking technology to deliver enhanced connectivity and network-based applications.

Japan Telecom believes that the IP network is the foundation for delivering intelligent business solutions, and by working with a leader such as Cisco, it can quickly bring advanced, differentiated networking solutions to market in Japan.

Japan Telecom, a domestic long-distance and international carrier, deploys a nationwide optical, fiber-rich backbone network to provide seamless telecommunications service throughout Japan and overseas. As one of the leading companies in the data communications field, Japan Telecom became the first Cisco Powered Network member in Japan.
