Of or relating to a septum or septa. Occulader, a medical device currently marketed by the company, at three hospitals in Japan. The three hospitals that conducted the treatment from August 8 to 12 are the National Cardiovascular Center, the Saitama Medical School Hospital and the Okayama University Medical School Hospital. Developed by US company AGA Medical, the AMPLATZER Septal Occulader provides a minimally invasive procedure Minimally invasive surgical procedures avoid open invasive surgery in favor of closed or local surgery with less trauma. These procedures involve use of laparoscopic devices and remote-control manipulation of instruments with indirect observation of the surgical field through an to ASD patients, shortening a period of hospitalization and improving their quality of life. Currently, the AMPLATZER treatment is only available at the three institutions. The company has filed an application for the NHI coverage with a view to receiving approval in April 2006.
