Japan Food Service Association Reports on July Food-Service Industry Trends.


Tokyo Tokyo (tō`kēō), city (1990 pop. 8,163,573), capital of Japan and of Tokyo prefecture, E central Honshu, at the head of Tokyo Bay. , Japan, Aug 26, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - The Japan Food Service Association (JF), an industry group of major food service firms, announced on August 24 the results of its trend survey on the food-service industry in July July: see month. . Total sales in July showed a year-on-year increase of 1.3%. The number of customers increased 2.6% while the per-customer unit price decreased 1.2%.

By type of business, fast-food shops, pubs, restaurants and coffee shops reported a year-on-year increase in sales while family restaurants' sales fell short of the previous year.

In terms of per-customer unit price, although the decrease in sales of fast-food shops drove down the average value, other types of shops and restaurants reported an increase.

The number of shops and restaurants grew 1.4% year-on-year.
