SA Erickson's strong, confident voice is perfect for the strong and confident Sheriff Joanna Joanna, Spanish queen of CastileJoanna (Joanna the Mad), 1479–1555, Spanish queen of Castile and León (1504–55), daughter of Ferdinand II and Isabella I. She succeeded to Castile and León at the death of her mother. Ferdinand II briefly assumed the regency until he was replaced by Joanna's ambitious husband, Philip I. After Philip's death (1506), Ferdinand again assumed the rule, for Joanna had by this time become quite insane. Brady. Within a week of delivering her baby, Joanna is Joanna I, 1326–82, queen of Naples (1343–81), countess of Provence. She was the granddaughter of King Robert of Naples, whom she succeeded with her husband, Andrew of Hungary. The murder (1345) of Andrew at the queen's behest brought the wrath of Andrew's brother, Louis I of Hungary. Louis twice invaded Naples; each time Joanna fled, and in 1352 she made peace with Hungary. caught up in two intellectually and physically demanding cases. In the first, a born-again ex-convict, having served 20 years for the confessed murder of his pregnant wife, is found dead in the Arizona desert with all his fingers cut off. What does it have to do with the old murder and the fact that he was seen taking photos of a young real estate woman? In the second, one of Joanna's staff is savagely beaten and left for dead while investigating a suspected dog-fighting ring and the discovery of many badly mauled dead pit bulls. Combine this with Brady's husband being away, a sudden visitation by the most horrible of in-laws, a teenaged daughter, an abandoned python, and being short-staffed, and there is more than enough to keep listeners glued.
