"As a large consumer company producing a wide variety of products in diverse locations, James River requires a strategic software solution that benefits the entire enterprise," said Christopher Lane, president and chief executive officer of TSW International. "With Enterprise MPAC, James River will realize dramatic improvements in its work flow processes and will optimize its ability to communicate vital information across the enterprise."

James River was founded in 1969 and has grown through acquisitions. Along with mills all over the country, the company acquired the facilities' diverse maintenance systems and practices. As part of its strategic business plan, James River wanted to bring consistency to its maintenance operation throughout the company. In late 1994, James River formed a cross-functional team composed of maintenance and technology personnel to evaluate maintenance management software. The team put together a list of more than 100 maintenance software products, narrowed the list to 12 based on architecture and strategy, then selected four vendors for interviews. "We evaluated the four remaining companies on how well they met our list of `musts' and `wants,' and we selected TSW," Rodal explained. "We were also impressed with the strategic partnerships they have made, their insight into future opportunities in the industry and their leadership on important industry issues like ISO (1) See ISO speed.
