Jam supergroup makes a stop here.Byline: Lewis Taylor The Register-Guard The original concept behind the band Stockholm Syndrome Stockholm Syndrome Definition Stockholm syndrome refers to a group of psychological symptoms that occur in some persons in a captive or hostage situation. , co-founder Dave Schools Dave Schools (b. December 11, 1964) is the bassist for the band Widespread Panic. He hails from Richmond, Virginia. He has numerous side projects with Jerry Joseph, The Stockholm Syndrome, J Mascis and the Fog, Slang, and Acetate. Schools has played bass with Gov't Mule in the past. says, was to "play anywhere where there's electricity." "I've since amended that to say we'll play anywhere," Schools told the Oxford, Miss., radio station WUMS, recently. "It turns out we can play a great acoustic show as well." Stockholm Syndrome will plug in Saturday for an electric set in Eugene. The group joins Karl Denson's Tiny Universe at the McDonald Theatre. Sort of a jam rock supergroup, Stockholm Syndrome came together in the spring of 2003 when Schools (the bass player for Widespread Panic Widespread Panic is a southern rock band from Athens, Georgia. The current lineup includes guitarist/singer John Bell, bassist Dave Schools, drummer Todd Nance, percussionist Domingo "Sunny" Ortiz, keyboardist John "JoJo" Hermann, and guitarist Jimmy Herring. ) and vocalist and guitarist Jerry Joseph (the Jackmormons) started collaborating. While on tour in Europe, the two wrote a pair of songs together in a Swiss hotel room and began talking about putting a band together. "We just drew up a wish list of players that we'd worked with in the past that we thought would make a really interesting stylistic group," Schools recalls. That list included world percussionist and drummer Wally Ingram Wally Ingram is an American drummer and musician. He is most famous as a member of the band, Timbuk 3. In recent years, he has toured with the multi-instrumentalist David Lindley, and released several records with him :
The group became a reality and Schools said the band entered the studio in January 2004 to record its debut album, "Holy Happy Hour." "We made the record in, like, eight days, and Jerry and I began the next step of wishful thinking wishful thinking Psychology Dereitic thought that a thing or event should have a specified outcome , which was that, `Gee, maybe these guys like these songs and the company they're keeping so much that they'd be willing to go out and tour on a shoestring.' ' The players agreed to the not-so-lucrative touring arrangement and, after a monthlong European swing, Stockholm Syndrome made its U.S. debut in May 2004. "Holy Happy Hour" was released stateside state·side adj. 1. Of or in the continental United States. 2. Alaska Of or in the 48 contiguous states of the United States. adv. Informal 1. in late June. Perhaps not surprisingly, "Holy Happy Hour" is a somewhat-scattered effort that flirts with a number of different genres and cycles through a sea of separate emotions. There are echoes of Widespread Panic (`Empire One'), and Joseph's soulful soul·ful adj. Full of or expressing deep feeling; profoundly emotional. soul ful·ly adv. voice often rises to the surface (`Bouncing Very

as the opening track, "Counter-Clock World Counter-Clock World is a 1967 science fiction novel by author Phillip K. Dick. It was expanded from his short story Your Appointment Will Be Yesterday, first published in the August 1966 edition of Amazing Stories. ."
And Ingram and Dziuk certainly bring the rhythm on the stormy rocker "Princess Cruise," a song that is, by the way, not an endorsement of the luxury liner that bears the same name. Schools has said Stockholm Syndrome is not simply a side project that will disappear when his band, Widespread Panic, starts up again next spring. There are new songs in the works, plans for a second album and signs that the supergroup will become even more of a collective. "Jerry and I wrote the majority of the songs for Holy Happy Hour," Schools told WUMS, "But in the process of touring, there's a lot more input from the rest of the guys in the band. ... `New things are on the horizon."
